Manned Underwater Habitats in a Blue Economy

With the growing blue economy, there is starting to become a focus on manned undersea development. Whether it is for scientific pruposes like Fabien Cousteau’s Proteus program, Deep’s Sentinel habitats, or Microsoft’s short venture into underwater data centers which China has now embraced. Underwater AirBNBs may be the next thing after Jules Undersea Lodge in Florida, the Muraka in the Maldives, or a handfull of other “underwater hotels” have popped up.
Some even look to the potential of working and living out in international waters, away from traditional governement oversight and reach.

There are organizations, i.e. The Seasteading Institute, that is focused on building floating houses, colonies, and cities. Partnering with those to allow alternatives to being above the water may be another avenue that is quickly growing.

Technologies have made the possibility to design, build, and maintain underwater based habitats in a much more ecnomic way than may have been the case even 20 years ago.

What new jobs may be created as we see more and more growth to people living and working in and under the sea?

I have a company, ASC (Atlantis Sea Colony) that is working on developing manned underwater habitats with a universal design in order to meet the needs of whatever the call may be.
