Richard Evans

Richard “Rich” Evans is McAllister Towing’s Corporate Recruiter and is involved in all aspects of crew member recruiting for all divisions of McAllister. Rich, originally hailing from Toms River, NJ, currently sources both shoreside and crewmember employees for all McAllister ports along the East Coast. Rich joined McAllister Towing team in January 2022, and has been instrumental in developing and tracking recruiting trends across all platforms to ensure a full crew complement of qualified and talented individuals to join the McAllister team. Prior to joining McAllister, Rich served in the United States Coast Guard (USCG) for 28 years; finally retiring on December 1, 2020, as the highest enlisted rank attainable, Master Chief Petty Officer. There, Rich honed his skills in leadership through human resources, project management, team leader, recruitment, and communications.

 

Rich holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master’s in Business Administration- Finance. He was the Culinary Specialist of the Year in 1999; Runner-Up Medium Afloat Dining Facility of the Year in 2006; and a nominee for the prestigious Douglas Munro Inspirational Leadership Award in 2010. His military awards include: two Meritorious Service Medals, the Coast Guard Commendation Medal with “O” device, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals with “O” device, five Commandant Letter of Commendation ribbons with “O” device, nine Good Conduct Medals, the Military Volunteer Service Medal, four Sea Service Ribbons, Command Master Chief Silver Badge Insignia, Permanent Cutterman Insignia, and several other medals and ribbons.

 

Over the past year, Rich has participated in various industry focus groups to further hone his leadership and recruitment skills in anticipation of recruiting offshore wind personnel; including but not limited to, the credentialing process for United States Coast Guard MMC JTA Adjudication Focus Group in January 2023. Through his unwavering devotion to the maritime community and his skillset to acquire top-level recruits, Rich has been noticed by industry leaders for his expertise in maritime recruitment efforts, including, a published article in Professional Mariner (Jan 2023) and Workboat Magazine (Apr. 2023), as well as, being a recognized as participating as an Expert Panelist in the American Waterways Operators Mariner Workforce Forum (Mar 2023).
