Paul Ohodnicki

Dr. Paul Ohodnicki serves as an RK Mellon Faculty Fellow and Associate Professor at University of Pittsburgh.  He received a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Pittsburgh and has previously worked as a Technical Portfolio Lead at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in the Department of Energy prior to joining the University as a faculty member.  He has an extensive background in sensing across a broad range of applications, with a specific focus on energy infrastructure and distributed fiber optic sensing of chemistry and other important analytes for environmental and energy system monitoring.  He has received numerous prestigious awards for his work in the area of distributed sensing including the 2016 Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering (PECASE), 3 R&D 100 awards, and being named as a finalist for a 2017 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal award.
