CDR Kevin Koski is the Surface Forces Logistics Center, Medium Endurance Cutter Product Line Manager (SFLC-MECPL) in Norfolk, VA. As the Product Line Manager, he’s responsible for configuration management, maintenance, and logistical support for 26 medium endurance cutters (WMEC) and the barque EAGLE and is preparing to induct the Offshore Patrol Cutter into sustainment.
CDR Koski is a 2001 graduate of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
CDR Koski enlisted in the Coast Guard in 2002, attended MK A-School and was assigned to CGC VIGILANT (WMEC 617) in Cape Canaveral, FL where he served in the Auxiliary Division. In 2006, CDR Koski was selected for Officer Candidate School and was later assigned to CGC ESCANABA (WMEC 907), then homeported in Boston, MA serving as the Damage Control Assistant. In 2008, CDR Koski reported to the Coast Guard YARD where he served as a Ship Superintendent managing and overseeing cutter dry dock availabilities. In 2011, CDR Koski attended The George Washington University where he earned his Master of Science in Systems Engineering. Following grad school CDR Koski served as the Engineer Officer onboard CGC HARRIET LANE (WMEC 903) in Portsmouth, VA from 2013 to 2016. From 2016 to 2020, CDR Koski served as the SFLC-MECPL Engineering Branch Chief where he was the Technical Authority for the Product Line and defined the maintenance requirements for the WMEC fleet. In 2020 CDR Koski was assigned to the US Navy’s Operational Test and Evaluation Force, as the Coast Guard Detachment’s Surface Operational Test Director for DHS Level 1 Major Acquisitions of USCG Surface Programs. There, CDR Koski developed and executed Operational Test activities in support of the Coast Guard’s Offshore Patrol Cutter and Polar Security Cutter programs, as well as supported follow-on testing of the National Security and Fast Response Cutters.
Originally from Champion, MI he currently lives in Chesapeake, VA with his spouse Heidi, also a CDR in the Coast Guard, and their two daughters.
