Innovation in ocean technology often requires failure and long periods of iteration and testing. By inventing modular tools and making sure they work well together, Blue Robotics helps create better systems year after year. This kind of steady progress is one of the best ways the ocean technology community can move forward and find success in new applications. When products are designed to connect and build on each other, new ideas become easier to test, apply, and grow.
This presentation will focus on two recent tools developed by Blue Robotics. The RadCam is a compact underwater IP camera with high resolution, optical zoom, and incredible low-light sensitivity. It can be used on its own or with vehicles such as the BlueROV2 and BlueBoat. Field footage will show how it performed in recent deployments, including a long-term test at a fish farm in Hawaii.
The WetLink Connector is a pressure-rated connector that uses no potting and can be installed quickly with a few simple tools. It makes cable termination and repair easy in the field; a live demonstration, captured up-close with the RadCam, will illustrate how the connector is installed on a tether creating a 1000m rated connection.
These products are part of a set of open-source vehicles, software, and modular components. Each new item adds to a growing catalog of hardware that make it easier to build custom systems. Ocean technology accessibility continues to be our goal, achieved through quality, openness, and affordability.
