Stephen has served in the delivery of water solutions from a “thinking practitioner” perspective on the ground for more than 39 years. He has listened to and engaged in every aspect of water challenge’s in the United States — from north to south (Canada to the Gulf of Mexico) and east to west (Helena, Mont., to Pennsylvania). He has traveled around the world speaking, listening to people, observing, evaluating, and learning from our life-providing relationship with water.
Stephen has worked in association with the Nature Conservancy, US State Department, USAID, World Bank, Dept of Interior and the US Army Corps of Engineers helping inform watershed wide discussions and decisions related to water infrastructure, challenges and solutions.
He has traveled to more than 39 countries speaking in local and public forums helping students and countries “Build and Reach their Dreams”. He participates in water dialogues related to the challenges and solutions of complex water resources, construction and infrastructure investments.
Mr. Gambrell earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clemson University, S.C., and a majority of hours for a master of divinity from New Orleans Seminary, La. He is a graduate of Harvard University’s Senior Executive Fellows and numerous executive programs at Harvard.
Stephen, Susan, Seth, and duck dog Star live near the magical Mississippi River in Tennessee where they serve local and international missions to help people in underserved areas of the world. He is a member of: a local Christian Church, the American Society of Civil Engineers; Ducks Unlimited; America’s Watershed Initiative, and the Society of American Military Engineers.
Mr. Gambrell also serves at the Executive Vice President of the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association.
Since 1928 the Mississippi Valley Associated General Contractors of America Mississippi Valley safely builds the Nation’s Flood Control, Navigation and associated environmental improvements along the Mississippi River with a multi-generation work force.
