Upon retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard in July 2011, Paul J. Roden, PE joined Fairbanks Morse Defense as Vice President for Washington Operations, where he represented the company before Congress and the Executive Branch. Fairbanks Morse Defense is a manufacturer and service provider of a broad range of shipboard equipment for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard fleets. In April 2023, Paul founded Lighthouse Point Government Relations to expand his government relations services to additional clients across the maritime, shipbuilding, and defense industrial base.
Prior to his Coast Guard retirement, Captain Roden served as the Coast Guard’s Chief of Naval Engineering, where he was responsible for policy development and budget management in support of sustaining the readiness of all Coast Guard cutters and boats. His previous assignment was as Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Engineering Logistics Center.
After graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering, Captain Roden served in numerous afloat and ashore assignments over his 28-year career. He earned a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Michigan, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University.
Captain Roden has been an active member of engineering professional societies throughout his career and is registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan.
