Michael “Mike” Spence is Senior Vice President of Market Development at Reel Power Marine & Energy, where he helps lead the development and commercialization of engineered lifting, handling, and deployment systems for the offshore energy, subsea, commercial marine, and defense markets. His experience includes equipment used to deploy and recover cables, flexible pipe, umbilicals, hoses, ROVs, and other subsea systems.
Working closely with vessel operators, offshore contractors, energy companies, engineering firms, and classification societies, Mike helps translate complex operational requirements into practical equipment solutions. His focus includes improving safety, reliability, efficiency, and operator control through advances in automated handling, drive and control technologies, condition monitoring, and purpose-built system design. He also brings an OEM perspective to the regulatory and commercial challenges involved in introducing new technologies into safety-critical offshore operations.
