Matthew Paxton

Matthew Paxton has served as President of the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) since 2007. In this capacity, he leads the team in advocating for a robust U.S. shipyard industrial base. With years of legislative and policy experience in the United States Senate, Matthew strongly focuses on the legislative process, including the appropriations and authorization committees of Congress.

In addition to his work at the SCA, Matthew serves as the partner-in-charge of Adams and Reese LLP’s Washington D.C. office. Matt’s federal practice focuses primarily on maritime law and policy, fisheries law, natural resources development and environmental and energy policy issues. He also serves as a board member for the American Maritime Partnership on behalf of the SCA to advocate for the Jones Act. 

Paxton earned his J.D., in 2001, from Willamette University College of Law, and he received his B.A., in 1997, in political science from the University of Washington.
