Speaker

Jeff Heaton

Jeff Heaton began his career as a commercial diver, working his way through a BSc in Marine Science at UBC. After a decade of diving, he moved on to join Nuytco Research as a technician and submersible pilot and has been with Nuytco for 30 years. When Nuytco debuted the Deep Worker class of submersibles and the Exosuit ADS, Heaton moved into the role of lead pilot and supervisor. As Nuytco’s projects expanded, Heaton became Operations Manager and eventually company President, after the passing of his friend and mentor Phil Nuytten. At present, Nuytco is involved with the sea trials of its next generation ADS for the US Navy. Acronym DSEND (Deep Sea Expeditionary No Decompression), Nuytco’s new ADS will bring about a shift in ADS operations. Currently focused on Mobile Diving and Salvage Operations and other Undersea Warfare tasks, the DSEND system will easily be shifted into commercial and scientific diving roles.
