With over 26 years’ experience in various commercial and military sectors of the marine industry, Don has a comprehensive background with advanced design and complex build programs from engineering, program management, and production control perspectives. Don has developed and maintained top engineering teams capable of leading advanced R&D efforts as well as led the development, planning, and execution of complex production programs from proposal inception through sea trials and delivery. Well experienced in developing manufacturing process improvements for increased product quality and production efficiencies, Don is well versed in constraint theory application and build strategy development. As a business development executive, he has been directly engaged in win strategies for numerous high complexity commercial and military programs and an industry leader with integration of innovative technologies. Don was a keel plank volunteer on the National WWII Museums’ restoration of the Higgins PT-305 boat as the senior engineer and responsible for the hull form restoration development. A University of New Orleans graduate (B.S. Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering), Don currently is an executive with Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors, LLC and lives in the New Orleans metro area.
Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors, LLC (TMC) has new construction and repair shipyard facilities located in Houma and Lockport, Louisiana. TMC currently has a number of new construction projects with the NOAA/USN and USACE including the NOAA AGOR Variant (NAV) and the Robotic Mat-Laying Barge (ARMOR ONE). We have recently launched the ARCTIC FJORD, a 99.3 meter Pelagic Factory Stern Trawler that will operate off the coast of Alaska.
