David Kim

David Kim is an accomplished business leader with over 30 years of experience in strategic leadership, operational management, and corporate development. Appointed CEO of Hanwha Philly Shipyard, Inc. (HPSI) in 2024 following the successful integration of Hanwha’s acquisition of Philly Shipyard, David has been instrumental in shaping and executing the company’s vision and growth strategy. David’s journey with Hanwha began in 2021 when he joined Hanwha Energy USA Holdings Corp, a leading renewable energy company, as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer. In 2024, he transitioned to Executive Vice President of Hanwha Defense USA, where he led strategic initiatives before assuming his current role as CEO. Prior to joining Hanwha, David served as the leader of the US West Region for EY’s Operational Transaction Services, where he guided numerous high-profile transactions and operational transformations. His extensive experience also includes executive positions at Hewlett-Packard (HP) and LG Electronics, where he focused on corporate development, strategic planning, and operational excellence. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in energy, technology, and large-scale operational transformations. David earned a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and Economics from William Marsh Rice University in Houston, Texas.
