Capt. Tim Leach

Captain Timothy Leach is an Associate Professor at Maine Maritime Academy. During his forty years at the Maine Maritime Academy, he has served as Captain of several academy training vessels, Director of Career Services, Marine Operations Manager, Assistant Waterfront Manager, Engineering lab Instructor, and currently Associate Professor in the Marine Transportation Department.  He has taught classes in both the Marine Transportation and Engineering Departments. Over his forty-year career, he taught courses in tug and barge operations, workboat operations, practical ship handling, and marine diesel technology. He has served on many industry boards, including being appointed to the National Towing Safety Advisory Committee in Washington, DC.  In his former role as Director of Career Services, he managed and arranged all the experiential co-op and cadet shipping assignments.  Currently, Captain Leach is teaching courses in Tug/Barge Operations and Workboat Operations and serves as a lab instructor for ship handling and seamanship. 

Captain Leach holds an Associate of Marine Science and Engineering from Southern Maine Technical College, a Bachelor of Science in Vessel Operations and Technology from Maine Maritime Academy, and a Master of Science in Maritime Management from Maine Maritime Academy’s Loeb-Sullivan School of Business.
