Bruce Washburn co-founded Washburn & Doughty in 1977 where one of his primary duties has been developing designs for in-house production. In that time, the company has built over 125 vessels including small barges, offshore fishing vessels, research vessels, ferries, and tugs. The majority of the vessels were in-house designs. Since the late 90’s those designs have been primarily Z drive tugs of ever increasing horsepower.
Previously, Mr. Washburn worked as an Engineer and Estimator for Bath Iron Works from 1974 to 1978. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1974 with a BSE in Naval Architecture.
