Anders currently serves as the Deputy Administrator for the System Electrification Program at Washington State Ferries. The System Electrification Program is a long-term WSDOT mega-program tasked with providing ferry charging infrastructure to ferry terminals, converting existing ferries to hybrid propulsion, and procuring new hybrid propulsion ferries. Anders has held this position since March 2025, after retiring from an active duty career in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Prior to his retirement from the Coast Guard in 2024 at the rank of Commander, Anders served as the Engineering Branch Chief at SFLC Long Range Enforcer Product Line in Alameda, CA, overseeing the machinery casualty response and configuration and maintenance management of all Hull, Mechanical, Electrical and Ordnance systems on board WMSL-418, WAGB-420, WAGB-399, and WMEC-282 cutter classes.
Originally from Seattle, WA, he is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. His previous Coast Guard tours include: Executive Officer at TISCOM which transitioned into the Workforce and Facilities Division Chief at C5ISC in Alexandria, VA; Assistant Program Manager, National Security Cutter Program Office (CG-9321) at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC; Engineer Officer aboard USCGC BERTHOLF in Alameda, CA; at SFLC Long Range Enforcer Product Line in Oakland, CA; in the Office of Naval Engineering (CG-45) at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC, and as a Student Engineer aboard USCGC CHASE in San Diego, CA.
He earned Master’s degrees in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI in 2009, and his Senior Level Program Manager Certification from the Federal Acquisition Institute in 2018.
