The major objective of this presentation is to provide timely information and data in which to educate vessel owners and operators, port personnel, maintenance staff, etc. on environmental and health benefits, procurement/logistics, operating costs, and actual use of biodiesel and renewable diesel (biomass-based diesels) in marine environments. Attendees of this session will be presented with “real world” ata and information to learn abou the follwoing key areas and other aspects of biodiesel and renewable diesel use:

  • Current and future status of the biomass-based diesel industry,
  • Fuel standards, quality, and supply/availability,
  • OEM warranty statements with biodiesel and renewable diesel,
  • Immediately achieveable decarbonization/sustainability benefits, the “Time Value of Carbon”, and localized air quality improvement,
  • Advantages assoicated with them being a “drop-in” fuel, and
  • Experiences and outcomes of actual field trials showcasing cost-effectivness and operational performance.
