The Future of ATBS
The benefits articulated tug-barges include cost savings in both crewing needs and fuel costs. These fully functioning vessels not only provide inland and coastal tug and tow operations but have the ability to function as individual units when needed. A reduction in operating costs, reduced emissions and fuel consumption, higher speeds, and enhanced crew comfort all add to the growing acceptance of ATBs. Designs are created with all these factors in mind as well as how the modern infrastructure affects transportation. This session will highlight the increased demands of ATBs and how their designs are evolving with current and future innovations.
