Autonomous and remote systems are increasingly part of daily operations across commercial and defense fleets, but how do they perform where the ocean gets unpredictable? This session dives into real-world deployments of autonomy by Greenroom Robotics with Australian mariners, revealing lessons learned at the intersection of autonomy, AI, and seafaring.
We’ll cover case studies, including; optionally crewed boats undertaking fully autonomous seven day+ offshore survey missions; using software to provide dynamic positioning and station keeping capability to boats without advanced propulsion systems; and using vision-based AI for spotting hazards at sea.
The takeaway: seafarers aren’t resisting autonomy – they’re at the center of defining it. Feedback from the crew’s Greenroom have worked with across defense, survey and offshore operations has become the compass guiding safer, more reliable systems that enhance, rather than replace, human expertise at sea.
