Premise:
Commercial operators of tugs, ferries, Coast Guard, and fishing vessels are aware of the benefits of upgrading from the older NMEA 0183 to the robust and modern NMEA 2000 protocol.
Challenge:
A notable concern is the potential cost of the upgrade and determining if existing equipment must be replaced.
Advantages of upgrading to NMEA 2000:
Potential to log voyage data and analyze post-journey, plus see that data on any WiFi-enabled phone, tablet or device
Convert analog signals from engine senders into digitized NMEA 2000 data
Seminar Content:
We’ll educate the audience on the various ways to easily convert NMEA 0183 sentences to the powerful NMEA 2000 protocol including award-winning technology from Actisense, Airmar Technology Corporation, Maretron and others.
Who we are:
Gemeco Marine Electronics Specialists (a wholly owned subsidiary of Airmar Technology Corporation, an Amphenol Company) serves both the recreational and commercial marine markets, priding itself on being the comprehensive solutions provider for the marine electronics industry.
NEWS:
We also have an exciting announcement from the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA). Airmar’s SmartBoat Solution has received the world’s first OneNet certification (announced 7/8/24…press release to follow). We launched the new SmartBoat Diesel Flow Meter (DFM) at last year’s WorkBoat show and it has been well-adopted by many commercial customers to accurately measure fuel consumption and fleet costs.
What is OneNet?
NMEA OneNet is the third generation NMEA Standard for marine data interfacing and networking, operating on Ethernet, it has the power to bridge all three NMEA Standards together into a combined data network. OneNet operates on Ethernet networks ranging from 100 megabits per second to 10 gigabits per second. That’s 400 to 40,000 times faster than NMEA 2000. Utilizing TCP/IP’s IPv6 for IP addressing effectively removes any limit on the number of devices.
