St John Ship Building in Palatka, Florida continues to work during the Covid 19 crisis.

We at St Johns Ship Building are taking the current Covid 19 pandemic very seriously. Our highest priority is the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, their families, customers and partners.

We have implemented numerous safe practices to keep workers healthy while progressing with work at the shipyard. We conduct daily screenings of workers where temperatures are taken before anyone enters the shipyard. A safety committee analyzes and continually improves processes. Some of the steps we have taken are identifying touch points for increased cleaning, ensuring social distancing is adhered to, and keeping work areas properly ventilated to prevent potential spread of disease.

Here at St. Johns we currently have numerous projects under way including the reconstruction of an 1800 HP Vane Brothers push tug, fabrication of a floating barge restaurant, and an ongoing series of truckable tugs. We are continuing work on two separate series of ferries. Aluminum passenger ferries for New York harbor are being completed as are the 150’ Elliot Bay designed steel car ferries.

We have a diverse group of experienced craftsman capable of complex fabrication work in both steel and aluminum. Our state of the art facility conveniently located in Palatka, Florida outside of Jacksonville offers a 1,200 ton dry dock, a crane capacity of 500 tons, 2,400 feet of water frontage with over 900 feet of bulkhead including a 400-ft launch basin, two rail launch systems, a 425-ft by 75-ft fabrication shop as well as complete carpentry, electrical and machine shops.

St Johns Ship Building has open build spots so please contact us about your current or future new construction, refit, repair or specialty projects.

We hope everyone stays safe and together we will get through these troubled times.
