The Texas A&M Maritime Academy (TAMMA) is proudly located on the ocean-oriented campus of Texas A&M University. This unique campus uses its coastal location to provide degrees in Science, Engineering, Business, Transportation and Liberal Arts. TAMMA is one of six State maritime academies in the United States and is the only academy located on the Gulf of Mexico. Students who complete our license option programs earn a Bachelor of Science degree from TX A&M University as well as the knowledge necessary to successfully complete U. S. Coast Guard credentialing examinations for deck or engine and become licensed officers in the U.S. Merchant Marine. Required articipation in the Corps of Cadets provides students with skills in leadership, management and self-discipline. The Deck and Engine program curriculum stresses seamanship, navigation, ship handling, cargo loading, engineering and maritime business. Our graduates are highly sought after in the exciting fields of marine transportation as licensed 3rd Mates or 3rd Assistant Engineers.

TAMUG Mission StatementTexas A&M Galveston is a special-purpose institution of higher education for undergraduate and graduate instruction in marine and maritime studies in science, engineering and business and for research and public service related to the general field of marine resources. The institution is under the management and control of the Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System, with degrees offered under the name and authority of Texas A&M University at College Station.
