DEC provides feasibility studies, conceptual design, functional/regulatory drawings, and detailed production level drawings in AutoCAD and ShipConstructor for both conversions and new construction. DEC provides FEA, vibration analysis, fatigue analysis, CFD, hydrodynamic motion analysis, pipe flexibility analysis, resistance and powering checks, and 3-D modeling. Detailed design of a 30" suction cutterhead dredge for SPI/Mobile Pulley Works, Inc. DEC provided a complete detailed design package to SPI which included all arrangements, structure, piping, machinery, ventilation, outfitting, and structural part creation for NC coding. DEC also provided a finite element analysis of the full vessel structure including the A-frame, ladder, and trunnion foundation.

DEC also provided piping system modification drawings, stability calculations and technical support for regulatory approval throughout the conversion process. DEC also supplied on-site field engineering support during the final stages of the conversion.

DEC provided structural modifications, equipment foundations and structural scantlings for new deck houses along with associated gratings, stairs, and handrails. DEC provided piping diagrammatic, exhaust and ventilation drawings, lighting arrangements, and a structural fire protection drawing.

DEC provided design, engineering and drafting to lengthen the existing deck barge and to create a functional machinery, equipment and operations arrangement for pipe laying service. In addition to functional and detail design, DEC provided production support throughout the conversion and assisted in securing all regulatory approval and documentation.

Military – 35M Aluminum Patrol BoatAs a subcontractor to QED Systems, Inc., DEC provided extensive engineering services to Swiftships Shipsuilders, LLC (SSL) in support of their 35M Aluminum Patrol Boat Program. DEC modified the scantlings of the original SSL vessel to meet the ABS High Speed Naval Craft Rules. DEC provided a complete detailed design package and 3-D modeling to SSL which included all arrangements, structure, piping, machinery, propulsion, electrical and outfitting. In addition, DEC provided all structural part creation.
Military – 60M Command & Control Boat
As engineering support to Swiftships Shipbuilders, LLC, DEC provided a complete conceptual design package for a 60M Command and Control Boat for military applications. DEC provided all naval architecture calculations, marine engineering, equipment selection, general arrangements, mechanical and electrical systems development and conceptual drawings for the quad water-jet drive vessel. The vessel is all aluminum and powered by four MTU marine diesel engines to achieve a maximum speed of 25 knots.

Military - Stabilizer Fin Design and Analysis As a subcontractor to QED Systems, Inc., DEC provided structural design and analysis for a fin stabilizer shape supplied by the US Navy. DEC created the complete structural arrangement for the fin and performed a finite element stress analysis which included hydrostatic loads, ship motion accelerations and shock. DEC also provided complete fabrication and installation drawings for shipyard use.

Military – US Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf (WMSL 750)DEC provided extensive structural design and analysis support to Northrop Grumman Shipyard throughout the design development of the National Security Cutter Bertholf. DEC provided a full–ship finite element model for a global stress analysis followed by fine mesh models for several details. In addition to the structural validation, DEC also provided a longitudinal strength study, hull penetration analysis, fashion plate study, shear flow analysis, hangar racking study, and full-ship fatigue analysis. DEC also provided ShipConstructor modeling of the NSC superstructure.
Oil & Gas - 180,000 DWT FSO Lombo Este
Military - 180,000 DWT FSO Lombo Este DEC provided project engineering, coordination and progress due diligence for the installation and startup of the FSO Lombo Este for Texaco Angola. The project included installation of a single point mooring, and coordinating international vendors and subcontractors for FSO installation and tandem shuttle tanker offloading.
