American Refining Group

In February of 1997 American Refining Group purchased the Bradford Refinery, located in Bradford, Pennsylvania, from the Witco Corporation. The refinery was the first in the United States to achieve ISO-9000 quality certification, a status reflective of the total quality goal of its employees. The refinery resides on 131 acres and consists of five processing units. It has 375 feedstock and product storage tanks emphasizing the wide diversity of products produced at the site. It also has a modern research and development laboratory. Associated with the refinery is a state-of-the-art high speed blending and packaging plant for finished lubricants and a 110,000-square-foot packaging plant and warehouse. As we enter the new millennium, American Refining Group has conducted extensive research identifying the opportunities that lie ahead for the Bradford Refinery. To that end, ARG will be investing over $25 million in new state-of-the-art equipment. This move will position the Bradford Refinery to become one of the leading specialty refineries in the world, producing products that meet or exceed the highest standards set for the industry.

Today ARG employees 352 people and the Bradford facility refines 10,000 barrels of crude oil a day and ARG exceeds 300 million in annual sales. In addition to the refinery operation, American Refining Group consists of two additional entities: American Refining & Exploration Corporation and American Refining and Biochemical Company.
