In July 2006 Willard Marine delivered a 44’ Fast Response Boat to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. LASD contracted with Willard Marine Inc. for the design and construction of a 44’ Rigid Inflatable Boat (R.I.B.) capable of open ocean emergency responses in all weather conditions, including search and rescue, air-sea disasters, medical support and transportation, surface-to-air transfers, dive operations and homeland security.
Operated by the LASD Special Enforcement Bureau - Emergency Services Detail, this vessel has already seen a great deal of action in its short time of active duty. Since taking receipt of the boat, LASD has conducted numerous body and evidence dive recovery operations, ship boardings off of Los Angeles harbor as well as the rescue of a boat owner two miles off of the coast when his 50 ft. Yacht caught fire and sank and various homeland security missions.

Special capabilities of the Fast Response Boat include dive operations support for up to 15 divers, and transporting and deploying a SWAT team. The 44 ft. Fast Response Boat has accommodations for overnight operations with four bunks, a complete head and kitchenette. Other equipment are a Weapon Mount foundation for a M60 machine gun, a warm water wash down on the aft deck for the divers and a complete electronics suite with radar, GPS, VHF radio, crew intercom system as well as a number of tactical radios.

Powered with twin Cummins 540HP QSC diesel engines and twin Hamilton water jets this vessel has a top speed of 35 knots and an operating range of 400 nm. Also delivered in the contract was a Willard SEA FORCE 18’ R.I.B. with a 115HP Honda outboard engine and trailer.

Developed for the USCG Deepwater National Security Cutter, the Willard Marine Long Range Interceptor (LRI) is a unique boat encompassing a number of special features. Constructed from 5086 welded Aluminum, the LRI is designed to be launched and recovered from the USCG National Security Cutter’s stern ramp. The bow horn is designed to operate with the unique capture mechanism installed in the cutter for a safe and smooth launch and recovery.

Working with Human System Integration (HSI), a number of factors were taken into account when designing the interior of the boat. Other special features of the Willard Marine LRI include: C4ISR electronics package, shock mitigating seating for six operators, weapon mounts, an integrated intercom system as well as two laptop computer stations.

The Willard Marine Sea Force 730 LE was specifically designed for the Law Enforcement Community. In cooperation with Law Enforcement agencies and other professionals, Willard Marine has developed this boat to meet the requirements of the Law Enforcement Community.

A number of special options are offered to make the daily patrols and vessel boarding’s easier and safer. Special options include the Bolster with locked Gun Rack, Towing/Snap-back Screen, and Forward Boarding Handrails. Combined with the dual 200 HP outboard engines and the extensive electronics packages offered, this boat can be used for the everyday patrol duties as well as Special Operations boarding teams.
