ASCO Valve Navy/Marine solenoid and air operated valves are designed to meet US Navy and Coast Guard specifications for marine applications. ASCO has years of experience in supplying valves to meet the exacting standards of the US Government and commercial designers. Most Navy/Marine valves are approved for Grade A, Type 1 Hi-shock requirements.
 
 ASCO’s Valve Monitoring Systems (VMS) have revolutionized the concept of position indication by combining the technologies of visual indication and network communications. CuNi (Copper Nickel)

CuNi (Copper Nickel) is an alloy of copper, nickel and strengthening elements, such as iron and manganese. Cupronickel exhibits superior corrosion resistance in seawater. Because of this it is used for marine hardware, piping systems and sometimes for the propellers, crankshafts and hulls of premium tugboats, fishing boats and other working boats. The cupronickel alloy technology has been known by the Chinese since the 3rd century BC under the name "white copper" and was used in corrosive environments and is still used extensively in the modern boatbuilding era today. CuNi with its alloy properties such as a low general corrosion rates in sea water, resistance to stress corrosion cracking due to ammonia in sea water, high resistance to crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion due to chlorides, good pitting resistance, readily weld-able, easy to fabricate and its inherent resistance to biofouling is uniquely qualified as an ideal candidate and one of the preferred materials used for piping systems in the shipbuilding industry. CuNi sea water piping systems in some cases can last a ship’s lifetime.

    Specifically designed for marine and offshore installations and with all major classification society approvals, the RISE System can be used to seal multi-cable penetrations or pipe penetrations. RISE consists of two different components:
     • Rubber insert sleeves
     • Silicone-based fire resistant and water repellent sealant
     Manufactured by Beele Engineering, when RISE is exposed to heat, the rubber sleeves expand five to ten times their original volume, creating a strong rubber mass within the penetration. The sealant, which is applied to both sides of the penetration, also cures to a rubber-like mass that withstands tremendous pressures, enabling it to achieve its gas and watertight ratings. RISE is tested and approved for A-0 up to A-60 classification and has recently been successfully tested to 7 bar pressure. However, in the event of a leak, catastrophic failure of the entire transit is virtually impossible, unlike the block systems. Cable changes require no disassembly of the entire transit. Only the area being modified in the transit is opened for insertion of additional cables. Block systems require disassembly and replacement of all transit components following any alteration for additional cable passages in pressurized applications. There is no potential for missing components. RISE Sealing-System installation on new or existing platforms requires 60% less labor in terms of pre-engineering, preparation, installation and test-cycle completion. Results may vary with specific application, and references are available upon request to CSD Sealing Systems–North America and/or W&O Supply, Inc.
     
     RISE is Type Approved for cable and pipe transits by ABS, BV, US Navy, China Classification Society, DNV, Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyd’s Register, Korean Register of Shipping, Nippon Haji Kyokai, Registro Italiano Navale, Transport Canada and U.S. Coast Guard. RISE holds EC Wheelmark Certificates issued by Bureau Veritas.
